We have been learning how a good reader is a good thinker. They ask questions, wonderings as well as think about what they are reading. We have been using post it notes to record our thinking. Here is an example of what we are doing:
A sensational way to keep children engaged and switched on to learn is to keep them active. One of the songs that the kids enjoy is the “The Gummy Song”. If you search for the Just Dance Gummy Song, you will find our song!
Today we learnt about managing our time. Each team received their weekly tasks in a folder. They needed to:
1. Plan what tasks they would do for each day of the week
2. Check that they had their resources and sheets ready
3. Stick their task card on to remind them
This was a great way to build independence and there was some excellent discussion about choices that could be made. Each team then got a magazine container that would be used to keep their books, grids, instructions and sheets.
I was very impressed with how the children embraced the time management and organisation aspects of learning!
We are starting our first term inquiry. We will be learning how the choices that we make affect others. In class, we recorded choices that we could make in class. Here are some examples:
1. To help or sit back
2. To listen or ignore people
3. To learn or not to learn
4. To be kind or be mean
5. To say nice words or mean words.
Our important big question this term is:
I wonder what you think?
